Guest LilBambi
Tucked inside a piece of Windows malware used in the attacks is a component that erases Linux machines, an analysis from Symantec has found. The malware, which it called Jokra, is unusual, Symantec said. Joy... This really is annoying. Things they use against what are perceived to be enemies comes home to roost on their own citizens in time. Sigh...

Sigh... Another reason to use a virtual session, if you *must* use Windows, rather than dual booting.
sunrat
The actual attack code exploits a vulnerability in Internet Explorer dating from July 2012, which has been patched by Microsoft. I assume this means affected systems were not updated properly. Tsk tsk.
