crp Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Microsoft Azure had one location go down HARD . To me the decision of whether or not to go to the cloud is simple - No, not for anything I would need on a daily basis. So I would be open to cloud storage as an offsite data backup but only if the contract called for monetary penalties if the service provider lost the data. Quote
Guest LilBambi Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yes, the lack of repercussions for loss of access is quite troubling. Makes it totally not worth it to me. Not as a total answer for sure. I would always keep a local backup anyway. Quote
crp Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 and throw in conditions like the past 2 days where there is definitely something wonky going on with TCP-IP traffic to make my dislike of going cloud stronger. Quote
ross549 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Maybe something with your ISP? Do you have ping potter by any chance? I've used it to check my connection and have proven issues with a router in the Cox network that the techs were not aware of. Adam Quote
crp Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 please, I don't complain about slow access from one point, I do know much better than that. Multiple ISP's in the local area and there are plenty of other people in the rest of the USA having issues the past two days. Quote
ross549 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I was trying to be helpful..... I'll see my way to the door. Adam Quote
