These extracts from the comments section say it all.

It is more than a notch above your normal OTR sci-fi. Such stuff is often cops n robbers or cowboys n indians in space. But this is genuine thought provoking sci-fi. You'll find Clifford D Simak, Ray Bradbury, Robert Heinelein and others here. Don't fill your ipod with GBytes of songs from iTunes... this is much more interesting.

All I need now is some DimensionX.

I downloaded the torrent with transmission and they completed fairly quickly.

The more folk who use legal torrents the better. Think about it. Be an anarchist. :pirate:

Bell X-1 -- Likely got it's roots from that plane:

The Bell X-1, originally designated XS-1, was a joint NACA-U.S. Army/US Air Force supersonic research project built by Bell Aircraft. Conceived in 1944 and designed and built over 1945, it eventually reached nearly 1,000 mph (1,609 km/h) in 1948. A derivative of this same design, the Bell X-1A, having greater fuel capacity and thus longer engine-burn time, exceeded 1,600 mph (2,574 km/h) in 1954.[1] The X-1 was the first aircraft to exceed the speed of sound in controlled, level flight, and was the first of the so-called X-planes, an Americanseries of experimental aircraft designated for testing of new technologies and often kept highly secret.

Sound barrier officially broken

U.S. efforts progressed apace soon after Britain had disclosed all its research and designs to the U.S. government on the promise that U.S. information would be shared the other way - a promise that the Americans did not keep.
