marking posts as read

I hope this is the place to ask this, everytime I leave the forum any posts are marked as read even if I haven't read them yet. It makes it harder to keep track of where I was. I seem to recall changing it to do this at one point but haven't been able to find where I did it to change it back what am I missing here?

Every time you leave the forum it starts from that point to track what is read. You can go to the bottom of the first page and click ont eh link for "Today's Active Topics" and look down the list to see where you left off. I know this is not the answer you wanted but I don't think there is a much better solution. My Controls does not have a block to mark as read only those things you have actually read. If you want to mark everything as read when you are viewing the forum you can click on the bottom of the first page to mark everything as read but that is strictly a one-time thing - not something that is automatically done each time you log on to the forum.Julia ;)

After I read the new posts in the paticular forum I click on Mark This Forum Read located towards the top right, above the list of topics in that forum - than it will take you to the main page and show that it was read. It's a known problem with this version of IPB. Using the Mark This Forum Read does the trick tho

I don't think there's really a good solution. I think it's just the way the forums work. I guess my only suggestion would be to not leave the forum ;) Leave the browser open until you're all done. I know that doesn't always work out though B)
