abarbarian Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 http://www.linuxsurvival.com/index.php If you would like to learn the basics of Linux quickly, try this entertaining online Linux tutorial. You don't need to install it on your computer, and best of all, it's free! This is an excelent starter for anyone begining on a GNU/Linux journey. I passed the first test with 100% pass mark 1 Quote

abarbarian Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 It is a good tutorial but I have a major objection. It enhances the myth that you have to be a CLI guru to use Linux. Hardly a myth. You do need to use the cli to make full use of nearly every GNU/Linux os. Quote
Guest LilBambi Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 That may be true, abarbarian, however, not all users need to make full use of their GNU/Linux OS and thereby may never need CLI. Of course, i would be lost without CLI and feel very constrained, but that's just me. Quote
sunrat Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Funny, someone was just telling me yesterday how important it is to have java installed. I've been on this distro install for over a year and it took this website for me to realise that I don't have it installed! Quote
Guest LilBambi Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Good one sunrat! I use it for several things including Citrix GoToAssist, VirtualBox, Secunia.com, some NASA JPL programs, and a few other programs and websites. Quote
