teacher
In a galaxy, far, far away.......... You pegged it right, strange but interesting. Actually it was fun to watch and reading the codes before watching made it make sense. I was surprised at how fast it played despite the size of the file. Thanks for my morning entertainment. --Julia

Jeber
Thanks, Bruno.FWIW-I've never found myself wondering what you dream about. But I often wonder what tune your avatar is tapping his foot to. "I gotta be me"?
teacher
I figured he was always just impatient with me. I notice that sometimes he runs down - particularly in the evening.....Julia

teacher
The scary part is I have been thinking the last few days that if I could compile a kernel specfically for my computer I could probably cut out that extra minute and a half waiting for it to check for Sata drives that are not there.......--Julia

Owyn
Compiling is the mechanical execution of a script using configured parameters and settings. There are lists of these parameters. Each one comes with its own story about how it should be set, or not. Some are important, Some are not, Some (many) can result in unusable kernels.Ask Bruno how many times he had to re-configure his LFS kernels. teacher
I wish I had the knowledge to do that for my computer but I am afraid it would be beyond my capabilities right now.... --Julia
Bruno
Ask Bruno how many times he had to re-configure his LFS kernels.Only about 10 times . . . LOL . . . but mostly because I wanted to keep my kernel as small as possible, but adding more and more software required more and more things build into the kernel . . so I had to start again.Number 3 did boot but had no internet . . . number 4 was a disaster . . number 5 had internet . . . then I wanted to add the GUI sound and Ext3 support . . . there is where the fun started . . . . . ended up with a kernel almost as big as Mandrake's Glad I kept notes from each config . . because you forget what exactly was in the one before . .
