redmaledeer Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Could you recommend an MS explorer.exe replacement? I have the names of several, but I'm not looking for more features. I'm looking for one that is robust and resistant to crashing. Mine has been crashing. Quite likely I'm running too many programs, but I'd still prefer a sturdier explorer.exe equivalent. Quote

Go on Microsoft's download website and search for Windows 2003 Resource Kit. If you are using Windows Vista, Robocopy is already included. I also use Ycopy occasionally. It's slightly faster than Robocopy when copying large sized files but it has less options. In another words, you can use switches in Robocopy that will exclude empty directories whereas Ycopy does not. Quote

Tushman Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Q-Dir works for me.I've tried both Q-dir and Total Commander and there's no GUI based file manager that pleases me. None of them are robust (in my opinion) when it comes to moving/copying large-sized files (100 MB+) - that's why I prefer Robocopy so much. It's command line driven (much like issuing DOS commands in the command shell) but it's extremely reliable and has many options. Quote
