FuzzButt Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 Hello,I must be missing something. How can I share files that are in my home directory or other mounted file system with Windows users? I normally use Drake 9.1 but right now I am trying to get Demo Linux 2.something on a laptop to rescue files off a ready to fail hard drive.I am FTP'ing them to my webserver ISP account but that will take a day with the amount I would like to save.Ideas?Chris Quote
zox Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 You can either install Samba server and off you go, or you can quickly install FTP server and serve the files on your lan. Quote
Peachy Posted September 6, 2003 Posted September 6, 2003 Or install an SSH client in Windows, ssh into the Linux machine and use sftp to copy them over to Windows. Quote
linuxdude32 Posted September 7, 2003 Posted September 7, 2003 Putty is a good SSH client for Windows. It's a telnet client by default, so make sure you configure it for SSH, then give the IP address or name of the Linux box with SSH server. Quote
