Allan Lee Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 I have a combo wired/wireless network, and I use a Linksys WAP-11 for the wireless part. I have one person who can't quite get the signal the other users are, and we are using a DLink repeater. I have thought of using another Linksys WAP on his computer instead of the wireless card, and hard wire it with a hub, since he has two computers. Can this WAP be used as a receiver also? If so, how do I set it up as such instead of as a transmitter? Thanks, Allan Quote
FuzzButt Posted September 16, 2003 Posted September 16, 2003 Hello,I think I have and idea for you.You will need to login to the wap11 and change a few settings. To do this try opening 192.168.1.245 unless you changed it during setup.Once loggin in you need to go to the AP Mode tab and change to "Wireless Bridge" Enter the MAC address of the other Access Point and set tat one up as a Bridge also and save/reboot the AP.This will connect your 2 AP's together and thus connect the 2 networks together. One issue you will have is since the AP's are in bridged mode they only "talk" to each other. you will need 3 or 4 AP's to the 2 locations other wifi equipment to the network.Chris Quote
Allan Lee Posted September 17, 2003 Author Posted September 17, 2003 Thanks for the info, but not sure I want to use an AP as a bridge that way, as that can get expensive and really involved. I just wanted it to work as a receiving station, picking up whatever my MAC address is from the first AP, but not limiting them to talking to each other alone. I'll have to keep my ole noggin working and come up with the solution, if there is one. Thanks again. Allan Quote
