ebrke
I have just received an advisory from CERT about UPnP ("US-CERT is aware of an attack vector targeting networking devices that support UPnP (Universal Plug and Play"). They are advising disabling of UPnP at your router. I don't see why I can't do this--my home network is very generic: just 3 boxes, one running W2K SP4, 2 others running OpenSuse, on a D-Link EBR-2310 connected to an RCA cable modem. I'm not aware of using any applications depending on UPnP, but I wondered if anyone more knowledgeable knew of any issues with disabling UPnP that I am not aware of?
