SueD
Not quite sure where to put this so I'll just put it here.I just finished helping a cross country friend install Sam Linux on her computer. Previously, she had PCLos 2007 TR3 and before that XP Pro on it. Everything went well with the installation, or so I thought, until she rebooted and got the following message... Trend Chipaway Virus has detected a boot virus on your hard diskIt told her to put a clean floppy disk into drive and reboot ... then when she rebooted she never got the message. Is this fixable? zlim
http://www.felgall.com/prog15.htmlooks like it is a false positive built into the BIOS from the above link.
ross549
That is very likely the BIOS detecting a change in the Master Boot Record, making it think there is a virus. It is not something I would be concerned about, unless it does not let her boot the system.Adam
SueD
Thank you Liz and Adam. I've let her know and since yous don't seem to be worried about it, she won't be either.LOL
RichNRockville
Many Bios setup options include a trendaway boot virus check which many people have turned off. I suggest going into bios at power on time and turning it off.Rich
SueD
Thanks Rich. She's not comfortable with going into her BIOS for anything but if this continues to bug her, she may have no choice.LOL
