Boot virus on hard disk

Not quite sure where to put this so I'll just put it here.I just finished helping a cross country friend install Sam Linux on her computer. Previously, she had PCLos 2007 TR3 and before that XP Pro on it. Everything went well with the installation, or so I thought, until she rebooted and got the following message...

Trend Chipaway Virus has detected a boot virus on your hard disk
It told her to put a clean floppy disk into drive and reboot ... then when she rebooted she never got the message. Is this fixable?

That is very likely the BIOS detecting a change in the Master Boot Record, making it think there is a virus. It is not something I would be concerned about, unless it does not let her boot the system.Adam

Many Bios setup options include a trendaway boot virus check which many people have turned off. I suggest going into bios at power on time and turning it off.Rich
