dicknite
I'm guessing that this is the correct forum for this - since it concerns the display of my website on IE... Might be better in Browser and Email Central, but that seems to be a Firefox forum...I have a website and have had it up for years (1995?). Pretty static, not a lot of changes happen there (lazy? Me?).Anyway, I have a picture in the middle of the page. When I browse to the site on THIS computer, the picture is not there. When I browse from another box, it is.I did a View Source and in the place of <img src etc. etc. etc.> it is just blank. I FTP'd to the site and it is still there. When I use a different box, it is there and the picture shows.I had a customer ask me where the picture went a month or so ago, and just figured he was a little batty - but now that it has happened to me, it is real! :0Here is what is on the website (verified via FTP program):<HR>Here Is The<br><font size="+3"><font color="Red">WORLD RECORD</font></font><br>Pink Salmon Caught On A #114 50/50 Dick Nite Spoon On 9/22/2001!<br><br><a href="bigpix.htm" target="_blank"><img src="avisstaterecordhumpythumb.gif" width="160" height="120" alt="gamefishin.com" border="0"></a><br><br>Click The Picture For A Bigger View And More Information!<br>Fish Was Caught By Avis Pearson of Gamefishin.com<HR>Here is what shows up when I "View Source" from IE after browsing to the site:<HR>Here Is The<br><font size="+3"><font color="Red">WORLD RECORD</font></font><br>Pink Salmon Caught On A #114 50/50 Dick Nite Spoon On 9/22/2001!<br><br><a href="bigpix.htm" target="_blank"> </a><br><br>Click The Picture For A Bigger View And More Information!<br>Fish Was Caught By Avis Pearson of Gamefishin.com<HR>The portion that reads <img src="avisstaterecordhumpythumb.gif" width="160" height="120" alt="gamefishin.com" border="0"> is simply not there... It's replaced with spaces...Is this a coding error? I realize I am a hack at this, but it has worked for years and now all of a sudden it doesn't. I am running ver. 6.0.2900.2180 of IE on both boxes - the one that shows the picture and the one that doesn't...It must be a setting in IE that I am not finding...Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
dicknite
Well, I figured it out...ZoneAlarm Popup Blocker was killing it.Oh for the days when DOS got along with itself - and it was all we had to worry about! Well, maybe not....d|:^)Dick
SonicDragon
Glad you found the problem
Ed_P
ZoneAlarm Popup Blocker was killing it.In that it is not a popup why was it doing that? Did you contact ZoneLabs about the problem? Obviously a bug on their end.
dicknite
No, actually I never thougth of contacting them...I thought maybe the target="_blank" part made it think it was a popup - not knowing much about popups...How is a popup coded? Is it similar to the way that picture is?I might just email them and let them know about it. Never hurts I guess...Thanks for the feedback.d|:^)Dick
epp_b
Can you give us a clicky to the site please? Also, popups are generally coded using Javascript window.open().
Ed_P
epp_b it's the link at the bottom of his sig. dicknite, as epp_b said popups are usually Javascript invoked and your IMG is straight HTML code. I see no reason why ZA should block it. Write to them, it may help them correct their code and fix the problem or they may highlight why your code is classified as a popup allowing you to make the necessary changes to your page. Either way it's a win. Please, keep us informed of your results.
FuzzDuckie
You must have ZA Pro. I just wen there and can see the pic fine (ZA Free)I once did a free trial of ZA pro and it would remove the picture icons of members at Tribe.net. I have no idea why or if it was their coding or if there is a setting somewhere in ZA Pro that you have to tweak in order to SEE certain things.
