Well I am pleased with Manjaro so far and it is working fine with the Cinnamon DE. I did have a small problem with plank which I use at the bottom of the Desktop. I installed it from the repos, but it would not start when Manjaro started. It took me awhile to figure out how to make it start when Manjaro starts. It was real easy to fix. All I had to do was add it to the Startup Application Menu. Everything is working great so far and I was able to configure it the way I want using the Cinnamon DE. I tried Endeavor, but it had to many problems and Cinnamon DE did not work well with it. So far Manjaro has worked flawlessly. Mint is still my Primary OS, but Manjaro could replace it if need be. I've now made Manjaro my secondary OS replacing Seduction. Mel

I will try to explain this as best I can. I have Manjaro cinnamon installed and working great. I use luckybackup in mint and want to use it in Manjaro. I downloaded the tar file and opened it. I then executed in the terminal qmake make and it did everything OK and made a directory. Now the only way I can run the application is to cd to the directory while in the terminal and the use the command ./luckybackup. Here is the comple syntax [mhb@Manjaro ~]$ cd luckybackup-0.5.0 [mhb@Manjaro luckybackup-0.5.0]$ ./luckybackup the program is then executed and works. What I want to do is put the program in my application menu. There is a folder with Icons for the application. I am not sure about how to get the application into the applicarion menu so that I can just click on a icon to run the program. Mel

Many Linux snobs push the Arch operating system as the greatest thing since sliced bread. In fact, somemembers of the Arch community (not all of them) can be downright mean and unpleasant to non-users. Not using Arch? Ugh. Peasant! In reality, while Arch is a fine OS (stable and fast), it can be very hard to install and set up, and quite frankly, often not worth the hassle. People have lives to live, and sometimes it is easy to forget that an operating system and associated computer are tools -- not a religion.
