Now for the obvious question. How would I make one of those the desktop background on my SuSE system?
teacher
I don't know if it is the same for SuSe but I simply right click and get an option to set up my background. Of course first it helps to save the images you want to use. smile.gif I went to the directory for the jpgs posted and found a street scene I like.

Got it. I saved the jpg to my home directory. I had to log out and back in as root in order to copy it to the default wallpaper directory. Then I logged out of root and back in as me, and then selected the new wallpaper. I had to change the text from black to white to get it to show up better against the dark background of the Think Linux wallpaper. Looks great!

I'm glad it worked out smile.gif

I pulled the street scene background and put it on my computer. Both hubby and daughter have said they liked it and wanted it for their computers. I was just terrible enough to tell them they had to install Linux first. Maybe that is how to convert the family. Attract them to it with the wallpaper. tongue.gif

I think they're "trapped":

Well, hubby is catching on to the hints. biggrin.gif Daughter still has no idea that her computer has even been tested with live distros. huh.gif I keep showing her articles about animation using Linux and I get responses about the dumb shows. I need to see a good one that was animated with Linux instead of a flop. unsure.gif Of course, with some it just takes a little time.

bjf123, you don't have to login as root to do that.
You can pick up wallpaper from any folder, not just "Wallpaper" one.

Save your images to any folder for e.g in your "Home" directory.
Right click on desktop and go the same route as before, but this time click on "Browse" button and navigate to your folder.
It will work 100%, trust me smile.gif

Julia: Does she like Star Wars? Tell her about Industrial Lights & Magic converted their workstations and renderfarms to Linux for the animation in Attack of the Clones.

Here's another background biggrin.gif Please don't sue me, Microsoft! laugh.gif
Jeber
Julia, in your honor we should rename the image "flypaper" from wallpaper. biggrin.gif

Alas, she is not a star wars fan either. biggrin.gif

Agreed. I just wanted to keep the wallpapers in one place, instead of spread across different directories. I couldn't copy the jpg to the wallpapers directory unless I was logged in as root.

That is permissions related, maybe if you start your file browser as SU (super user) you can copy it without logging off and logging in again smile.gif

HAHAHA! Good one! Very tricky! lol
teacher
I rather liked that one! I have hubby using Linux occasionally now. I boot his computer into Linux and go off and leave it so he has to reboot or use it. He is slowly catching on! biggrin.gif
