If you have any sites with steam locomotives, the guy that posted this would be interested in links.
I found this UK site for him http://www.haworth-village.org.uk/wallpape...t=Steam%20Train

http://www.steamrail.com.au/gallery/main.php Follow the album links, this is one of our own steam tourist railways but I do have more of US, Europe etc if you're interested.

http://amtrek.net/gallery/index.html This is a sendup site of Amtrak, not steam but some of it is quite funny.

Here's the old Southern Railway website, it's slow to load but trainloads of steam pix.

Thes are from the same site but are of the town I lived in England before moving to Australia... http://oldreigate.com/?goto=redhillstation

Maybe we should have an "All things Trains" forum! smile.gif

Thanks for the tip on AnnieRebs. I feel about Iris as you folks do about trains. I'm busy downloading anything that has an iris or two in it!

They are Iris, not trains.

I had to pass on all the AnnieReb's. I downloaded three. They came with a wrapper. I started reading the EULA and it mentioned a partner WebDevAZ. I googled that and ended up at Eric Howe's Spyware Warrior site where he talks avbout ezula. I don't need adware/foistware/scumware bundled with wallpaper.
I'll look at your link greengeek. Anything iris is always beautiful.

Here's what I currently use

Click to enlarge. I think I have this thumbnail thing figured out - again. Thanks Bruno. tongue.gif

I downloaded one of the train screensavers from anniereb's and installed it on my Linux machine through Crossover Office. Obviously the screensaver doesn't work on this machine but I got the folder with the screensaver only and the exe for it and will try it on XP tomorrow. The folder is only 1.3MB, the download was 2.1MB. I also had to check my cookie folder and get rid of about 20 cookies. There is a way of getting the original programme out of those wrapper thingies but it's ages since I really bothered with Windows' stuff and I can't remember how I did it.

Hey, look over there!
Something is approaching from the left field:
The FireFox cognoscenti probably has "downThemAll" (affectionately known as "dTa") extension already installed!

...It lets you download all the links or images contained in a webpage and much more: you can refine your downloads by fully customizable criteria to get only what you really want!
DownThemAll is absolutely freeware and open-source. No Adware, no Spyware...
It will make mince meat out of the chore of fetching multiple images from a webpage... and more!

this magnificent image showed up in my local news feed today. it appears to be a steam locomotive from Nickel Plate Road on the Ann Arbor Railroad line.
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=291465

then i found 4 pages of fine outstanding images for Ann Arbor Railroad. i didn't know we had such rail history and fine imagery.
