In light of the fact that we've all come to realize that there is no privacy anywhere in the known universe, I was wondering if any of you utilize encrypted/signed emails?

I just installed Enigmail in Thunderbird the other night. I figured I should be prepared just in case a bunch of my email pals decide that they don't want Big Bro reading over their shoulders.

So, in case any of you are into this and want to share public keys, here's mine...

Oooh! That's one of them 4096 buggers, huh? Mine's only 2048, so I guess that means yours is bigger than mine. ;)

You have been added to my public keyring. I'll be sending you a test email soon.

Oh, and I sent myself an encrypted/signed test email a little while ago. That's slicker than snot on a glass doorknob. Worked like a champ... just like the "cone of silence"...

Too late. :(

Here's what it said, in case you're curious...

Houston, we have pretty good privacy (PGP).

Thunderbird most definitely does NOT suck. ;)

Are you using the Enigmail extension? It makes encryption/signing a breeze in TB.

Enigmail is the one giving me problems.

It keep saying that every key I make  "is not found or not valid. The (sub-)key might have expired."

Enigmail works directly with your gpg application.

You can list your keys by

$gpg --list-keys

and then delete the ones that you want to get rid of

$gpg --delete-key <key name>

Or you can open the GnuPG graphic front end --> gpa to check your existing keys.
