When 13 was first released I gave it a shot. At seemingly random points, and often, the whole system would lock up and become totally unresponsive. This also happened to several other people I know.
So, I ditched it in favor of the proven Mint 12.
Yesterday I reinstalled Mint 13 and ran through the update manager. There is a system update that pops up before any of the other updates will load. This must be installed before you can even access any of the other software updates.
Was this a fix for a widespread problem? I don't know. But, I have been trying to get it to crash for 6 hours to no avail. It seems to be awesome again. Just an FYI.
Mint 13 Cinnamon...fixed?

Well just be glad that it works on your system. If you are like me, you will want to know what changed but if you cannot find it, just be glad that it did indeed get fixed.

"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress toward more pain." -George Orwell, 1984

I haven't had a lot of issues with LM13 after I got through the installer crashing a number of times and actually got it on my machine. A few hangups with the Update Manager but that's it. Maybe that got fixed with the latest updates.
I have also installed the Mate edition on another machine and to me it seems a little more stable although missing the eye candy.

The issues Cookie had were probably kernel/hardware related. An update here or there may have cured it since his first attempt. Linux is usually good with pretty much any hardware. Sometimes, that's not the case, though. I installed Zorin on a system I put together for a pal (with some help from amenditman
) because Linux Mint just did not like something about that system's hardware. Zorin had no troubles at all. It happens like that occasionally.
