Hello friends,
I have been using Arch based on the love it gets here. I've built google chrome from the AUR before. Today, I tried to update it. (I sorta forgot about how you have to build it yourself and everything). The version in AUR says "20.0.1132.47-1". When I go to About Google Chrome, I get "Version 19.0.1084.56".
I tried removing the previous version and remaking the package. It gave me the same version. What gives? During the make, it downloads "google-chrome-stable-20.0.1132.47-144678.i386.rpm"
I'm lost here.
e: this is the AUR page: https://aur.archlinu...es.php?ID=37469

Did you restart chrome after updating the package?
My versions match up just fine:

Yeah I've restarted it a few times. Actually, running google-chrome --version from a console gives the expected result. Maybe it is the right version and the "About" page is just wrong?
[neil@arch ~]$ pacman -Qi google-chrome | grep Version Version : 20.0.1132.47-1 [neil@arch ~]$ google-chrome --version Google Chrome 20.0.1132.47

I figured it out. I was closing it, but it was still running in the background
It says it's the correct version now. Wrench -> Exit from now on! (although I unchecked the "allow google chrome to run in the background" box)

Ah ok, so it was not closed all the way. That makes sense now

I'm just kidding. It's like the KDE thing, you know. Although, I don't think KDE is evil.
