Was watching "Final Witness" and decided to do a google search for "Erin Caffey".
Came across a couple of links that do not display properly in the browser (Firefox in Slackware Linux).

Firefox indicates the encoding is UTF-8.
Checked the site in Firefox on Windows XP...same issue.
Checked the site in Internet Explorer and the page displays correctly.
Internet Explorer indicates the encoding is UTF-8 and the page source indicates it is UTF-8.

Any thoughts on why the page does not display correctly in Firefox (in both Linux and Windows)?
direct link to page in question on pysih(dot)com (people you'll see in he**)

The following UTF-8 sampler page does display correctly in Firefox.
http://www.columbia.edu/~fdc/utf8/

Not a big deal...just curious why this particular page does not display correctly in either version
of Firefox while it does display correctly in Internet Explorer.

On a side note...when doing the google search...
the page does display correctly in google's page preview.

Cheers

Odd, it worked perfectly on Google Chrome/Linux but would not display the page correctly on Firefox. I am at a loss why it would not work on Firefox but maybe it has something to do with the rendering engine used or something??

I'm running FF 13.1 in Slackware64 13.37 Stable and that page renders perfectly for me. My encoding (View --> Encoding) is set to UTF-8. I have a feeling you have an addon or some other issue causing this, αΩ.

I'm running Firefox 13.0.1 in Slackware -current (up to date).
Tested the page in Firefox with add-ons disabled...same issue.
Same issue in Firefox in Windows with add-ons disabled.
I only have noscript in Firefox/Windows.
Have a couple of others in Firefox/Linux.

And wouldn't you know it...
I just checked the page again in FIrefox/Linux...

Nope as it does not work here on Firefox. I mainly use Chrome but I was wondering what the issue was/is.

That is what I was thinking...
that maybe someone had reported the issue seeing is
they might have been getting more traffic because of the program.

Weird that it did not work last night in either Firefox (linux/windows) but does today...
is it possible that the page is routed through a server that does not support UTF-8?

Works fine here, Iceweasel 10.0.5.
Nasty story by the way. Makes me glad I don't have kids.
