Famous Linux guru and Internet superstar vtel57 aka Nocturnal Slacker aka V. T. Eric Layton accidentally made Urmas a bot on the Out of the Woods board. Unfortunately, this most likely was the cause of a catastrophic database crash on the server. Eric did not, even though he harps about it to others endlessly, have an up-to-date backup. The four month old backup that he did have was just too buggy to use.
As a result of all this over the past few days, Eric used his favorite BIG HAMMER, Nuke-it-from-orbit strategy to resolve the issues. The result is an entirely new board called "Ho-Hum...", for lack of a better name at this time. It uses the Simple Machines Forums open source forum software rather than the phpBB3 that was being used at Out of the Woods.
You are invited to come register and participate in this new and most likely boring place. Previous members from OOTW may be fooled by their silly browser's password memories into thinking they already have an account at this new board. You do not. You'll need to register a new account at this new board.

Besides, this gives you a chance to play with SMF. It's also a very nice Open Source Forum software.

Yeah, I set an SMF board up for a friend about 6 mos. ago. Been itchin' to try it ever since. I like it. It's simple to use. I haven't discovered how to manually edit the headers/footers, etc. yet, but I'm working on it.

Yeah... plus, I enjoy the initial setting up/customizing stage of a board. It gets my creative side working.

After going from Ho-Hum... (no theme) to The Inferno (a Dante prison theme) to The Bunker (a post-holocaust Town theme) to Pleasant Valley (a retirement community in the hills a few miles from Town theme), I think I'm ready to stick with this one for a bit.

Things are just zipping along over at my new board, Pleasant Valley. Sounds nice, huh? You should c'mon over for a visit. Stay a while. You might like it there. It's a retirement community. We're pretty laid back.
