That was actually pretty educational for me. I use totally different commands to chown, chgrp, chmod, etc. That's one of the best things about GNU/Linux... CHOICES, BABY! CHOICES! :yes:

I always use -v option on chown, like to see some output.
Tweak it 'til it breaks, then learn how to fix it.  L.I.F.E. (Linux Is For Everyone)

Nice article. I've used most of these but always used chgrp to change group, and chown to change users and group together. Never considered group alone could be changed with chown.
