I've gotten this popup twice now where something causes Firefox to shutdown it plugincontainer.exe

Anyone else experience this? Just keep cranking up the version numbers but toss quality out the window.

This has been going on since 3.x, 4.x, 8.x Firefox based on a search on the title of this topic.

Here's something that might help: http://support.mozil...uestions/812618

I have never experienced this.

Have you tried closing the browser, uninstalling Adobe Flash, then downloading the new Adobe Flash and installing it for Firefox?

Sorry, Norm. I don't use FF in MS Windows. I've never seen this error in GNU/Linux, though.

There. I was no help at all. I did pad my post count, though. Gotta' catch up with LilBambi... Gotta catch up... Gotta... Posted Image

If this happens while on websites displaying Flash content, it could be due to this (posted in the Flash Player Update thread):  Flash Player Update Causes Firefox Crashes.

Thanks, Corrine. I'll run it as-is for now. I do use NoScript and the Flash crash doesn't affect the browser. I can just restart when convenient. Maybe future releases will solve the problem, or I can uninstall Flash and then install a fresh copy as Fran suggested. No biggie, just an irritant. Thanks too for your help, Eric.  :P

If you flash player is bunged, I would strongly suggest closing the browser, going to Add/Remove programs and removing any Flash Player installs you have, then get a fresh install from Adobe or FileHippo, etc. for the latest installer, and install it for NONE-IE browsers.

Flash is dangerous enough without living with a potentially bunged installed.

If that still doesn't work, download a new copy of Firefox 13 from Mozilla.com, uninstall Firefox and then install it fresh.

Sometimes upgrades can go awry. Not often but sometimes.

Whoa! Wait a minute!

You might want to step back and punt on the new version of Flash!

Check out Corrine's posting on SecurityGarden: Flash Player Update Causes Firefox Crashes

They are saying to be at the latest version because the vulnerability is that bad, but disable flash for now in Firefox.

I would suggest using Google Chrome for a bit for flash related sites. ;)

I updated my post about Adobe FB crashes to include a link to the Adobe instructions for doing a "clean install" of Flash Player at How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?.

Even then, I don't know if it removes all of the Firefox left-overs (just as it leaves behind old Java consoles).  So, after following the Adobe instructions for a clean install, I suggest checking plug-ins to be sure there isn't a left-over before reinstalling.

Personally, I would use the direct down-load link for Flash Player, not from a third party.

Firefox was updated to version 13.0.1 today.  It included the fix -- Flash 11.3 sometimes caused a crash on quit (747683, fixed in 13.0.1)

If you use Thunderbird, it also was updated to version 13.0.1 and if you use Lightning it was updated to 1.5.

Thanks Corrine! I got mine earlier today before our show. Not sure how they are rolling it out, but glad it was done quickly before the show.

People have still been having problems with Firefox and Adobe Flash Player.  Yesterday, Adobe released an update to the Firefox Plug-in version. The "hat tip" goes to an online friend, ky331.  Adobe Flash Player "Plug-in Version" Updated

Way to go ky331!

Haven't been having problems myself, but always happy to get an update to fix problems for others.
