GIMP on OS X


Our own sunrat posted about this in ATL here.


Apparently it was released on may 3, 2012, but at the time it was posted on GIMP.org, the Mac OS X version wasn't up yet. But now:


Now the brand new GIMP 2.8 is also available for Mac OS X (Snow Leopard and Lion)!


Finally GIMP 2.8 is here (GIMPUsers.com)


The GIMP.org Downloads page still thought it was 2.6 only for Macs, but when I went to

GIMP on OS X, the new GIMP 2.8 was available !!!

The site also provides the hash so take advantage of manually checking the hash in commandline, or use the very easy drag/drop checkSum+ (Pescados Software) to make sure you have a good copy of the file.

Here's what iusethis mac checkSum+ has to say about it.

Wow, they haven't released an update in a very long time.  it looks like a major update from the previous version.  (not so much referring to the version number but in terms of enhancements & feature wise).  I'm gonna try it out myself over the weekend.  I've been using an older version for quite some time now.  Thanks for the heads up Bambi!

I've been playing around with it for the past coupel of days and I like the new version.  Starts up noticeably faster and I like how they've included several new brushes.
