I went to this site, mentioned in the tech section of Sunday's newspaper, http://www.dailylit.com/
I get a bit of a book at the same time everyday by email.
This works for me because if I have a busy day or don't feel like reading, the excerpt stays in my inbox until I get to it.
I signed on for weekdays and "normal". I discovered that normal was too little reading for me so I changed my preferences to longest. I've also clicked send the next installment immediately when I wanted to read more.
All I needed to supply was an email address. I got a link to activate it and the installments started arriving.

I get something similar: http://dailypag.es/
Of course I read a lot of books anyway, I just like getting quotes from Machiavelli's The Prince and Sun Tzu's Art of War daily.

"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress toward more pain." -George Orwell, 1984
