I just installed the latest Ulitmate Linux and have some questions. But unfortuneately, their forum site appears to be down. One question I have is how to remove unwanted icons from the top panel. When you right click on them there are only two options. Launch and Propertes and there is nothing in Properties to "remove" or "delete" the icon. Also, how do you add Launch icons to the desktop. I can drag icons from the menu but I can't create a new one.
Thanks
Lew

Try just dragging them off of the panel to the desktop and then delete the shortcut: http://ubuntugenius.wordpress.com/2011/10/...tion-launchers/

I can drag icons to the desktop but that just puts a copy on the desktop. The icon remains on the panel. And I can't find any place to right click that brings up the panel properties.

Press the alt key as you right click on the launcher.

If you are using compiz, you may have to use the win key too:

To add and remove application launchers in the gnome-panel you need to:
Press Win+Alt and right-click the top menu bar - N.B. Win is the Windows Symbol key
If you are not using Compiz then you need to :
Press Alt and right-click the top menu bar
Much more information is described in the linked Q&A and other links in that answer.
