Wow, that sure was a short weekend! I barely finished my fresh install of XP.

Tweak it 'til it breaks, then learn how to fix it.

I rarely do a clean install; when something goes south, I reload a past image. Less patching and updating needed.

Our display computer at church recently was installed. I know the pain. And that was after installing a build of XP that included SP2!

A fresh install of Win7 isn't much better. Just not quite as much searching for drivers.

A fresh install of XP isn't so bad if you have SP2 and 3 on CDs, as I do. It still takes about an hour to download the most current updates for it, though (at 15M/5M FIOS speeds), once I get the newly installed XP online for the first time.

I recently made a bootable usb install tool from a Windows 7 installation. I don't know if it incorporates all the patches and updates of the installed OS though.
