That's a pretty old machine, the keyboard might have exceeded manufacturer's expected keystroke life expectancy.

I've never had any problems with the multitudes of Dell Latitudes that I have had. Inspirons, on the other hand, I have had every known failure and a few unknowns. That's the difference between manufactured for the retail and the enterprise markets.

It has a lot less years on it! That D series Latitude is a Pentium M, that is a mobile P 3. Not quite an antique, but getting there. hysterical.gif

I love that old workhorse of a laptop.
When you are ready to get rid of it, my door is open.

Once I get my keyboard installed, I'm considering making this lappy (the Latitude, I mean, not my Inspiron) my portable unit that I drag with my to friends' houses and other places. I set up the Zorin with a generic user account and very simple password. I'll leave it generic, I think. That way anyone who is around it can use it when I bring it somewhere. They'll get a look at a Linux distro in action, too... albeit, one that resembles Win 7 very closely. wink.gif

"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress toward more pain." -George Orwell, 1984
