So I clicked on the 'Search' link, and entered in
gnome bloat
system came back with nothing found.
"That's odd" , I thought.

It ain't Google, pal. 
Seriously, you gotta' be pretty specific when searching with board search engines. Some are better than others. This one here is mediocre. I've learned to just do "scatter gun" searches that give loads of responses and then just sifting through the posts one by one. It ain't efficient, but you eventually find what you're looking for.

Google crawls this stie all the time!
Add site:forums.scotsnewsletter.com in a google search with your terms, and you should be good to go!

Yep, Google is a great choice for searching specific to the forums.
I did a search on Google with the following criteria:
CODE
site:forums.scotsnewsletter.com "gnome 3 bloat"
Results came back as follows:
Gnome 3 Bloat - Scot's Newsletter Forums
search really that bad ??? - Scot's Newsletter Forums
etc. and all the balance in the Gnome 3 Bloat topic.
