Pardus (Linux) is now officially dead.
Pardus 2011 family, that has made the first stable release on 21 January
2011, followed by 2011.1 and 2011.2 releases, has reached end of life. From
now on, any future software updates won't be made for Pardus 2011.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this version and use.
And there is no 2012. Think corporate will continue update due contracts they have for it in Turkey.

It's a shame, i loved Pardus. Very user friendly and rolling dist. Even had some unique applications just for pardus.
Let's see if the community can manage to fork it.......

It is a shame when distros die off. Like you said, hopefully the community will fork it.

"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress toward more pain." -George Orwell, 1984

I never tried Pardus. It's still sad, though. I hate to see any Linux distro end up in the dust bin.

That is a shame as it was an "original" type distro and there are only a few of them around. It had some interesting features that I liked but I sadly never got around to trailing it.

I liked Pardus. It had some nice features and looked very good. The installer seemed very noob friendly. When they released each version it was always very up to date but then they never followed through keeping it up to date.

There's a very interesting message posted from a Pardus developer, further on in that same thread: http://liste.pardus.org.tr/pardus-devel/20...ary/002345.html
And, a thread at the Pardus Worldforum, regarding a possible fork: http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php?topic=4312.0
