The Old Man of the Mountain, also known as the Great Stone Face or the Profile, was a series of five granite cliff ledges on Cannon Mountain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, USA that, when viewed from the north, appeared to be the jagged profile of a face. It collapsed on May 3, 2003

Neat find and an interesting thread.A British rock face can be found here,http://www.andyfellw..._Kirk/index.htmPicture 91 gives a good view of the rock. However if you have the time viewing Pic 52 to 73 and then from 82 to 91 are quite interesting. Although the rock is called Sphinx Rock and many folk believe that the face is of an Egyptian. Archaeologists now believe that the face is of an "native american indian" looking towards America. The theory is that native american indians originated in england and sailed the atlantic to colonise america and the Rock was carved by the gods as a totem to look out for and keep safe the explorers.    :teehee:

Both NH and VT are pretty cool in that regard. Kind of free thinkers. Good folks up that way. (they're all over the map politically)  My parents were originally from MA.
