Hi
Within Active Directory environment (win2003 server) I have got 11 domains users. A new network printer Samsung CLX-6210FX installed on the server 2003 and shared On the server right click Samsung Printer > Properties > Security tab for the group “Everyone “ set as below http://i46.tinypic.com/qobogo.jpg Although “ Everyone “ group has been given permission for print only , why would a domain user still be able to change the color as in the snap shot (for a client PC) below http://i48.tinypic.com/2nkkw94.jpg Thanks |

Try setting up a seperate "virtual" printer for this device on the server , and configure it so that it does not offer a color option. |

yes, 2 printers in ad for the same physical is the answer.
call one b&w samsung call the other color samsung in the b&w one, general tab, printing preferences, output color - choose b&w. likewise for the color one, color. create a color group, add users to the color group in color samsung security, add the color group, but no one else. (leave the defaults such as print & server operators, domain admins, creator owner) let us know how it works out. -------------------- Linux Registered User #433481

I had already setup 2x different printers on the server.
One with color settings, and one with B&W settings. I named those printers accordingly, and shared them. Now on the color share...instead of sharing to everyone via active directory, I shared only to the accounts that I wish to allow to use it (my case two accounts). Now my question why would a domain users that have only black and white installed be able to change the color ? That means there is no restriction , that means all users are able to to print in color and this is not what I am looking for This post has been edited by zillah: Jan 18 2010, 05:54 PM |
