UPDATE FROM PCLOS 8If you want to update from PCLos 8 to PCLos 9 you will have to adapt the /etc/apt/sources.list . . . here is the new file:
#PCLINUXOS apt repository# rpm http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2004 os updates texstar# rpm ftp://ftp-linux.cc.gatech.edu/pub/metalab/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2004 os updates texstarrpm ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/metalab/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2004 os updates texstar# rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/mirrors/sunsite/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2004 os updates texstar# rpm http://rpm.nyvalls.se/ pclinuxos/2004 thac# rpm http://ftp.belnet.be/linux/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2004 os updates texstar

FASTER BOOT HD INSTALL  If booting your PCLos HD install takes a long time:

If you get a long pause at checking filesystems you can speed up your boot process by editing /etc/modprobe.preload and removing the following kernel drivers. 8250_pci 8250 epca esp isicom istallion moxa mxser stallion sx synclink synclinkmp Open teminal konsole, type su and enter root password, type kwrite /etc/modprobe.preload, remove the above then save the file. On reboot things should move along a little faster. Tex
Note: If you feel unsure you can also comment them out by placing a "#" sign at the start of every line you want to exclude, so if you ever want to restore one of them you only have to remove the # again. Bruno
