Huawei E3272 on Linux Debian Squeeze

This stick has defied my every attempt to install on Debian Squeeze.

It works for me well on Slackware .Which I got up and running on the first try.

All my main Internet stuff is on the Debian box . Which is crucial to my sanity.

There are some Russian guides .Unfortunately Me no habla Ruski.

Oh great Lords of the interweb please help us. :worthy:

Phew !! Not easy is it.? Looks like my best bet is the u-tube video.

Sometimes it feels like my cranium is packed with spaghetti.

What is the output from this command as root:

dmesg | grep modem

So sorry not to respond sooner. I've had a bumper crop of in'laws lately. Just beginning to sober up. Before the next shower.

The up-side is they all bring litres of really good whiskey.

Always nice to get high with family and friends every now and again.

There is no output it just returns me to root.

I can access the modem which comes up as cdrom2 .ttyS1 gives me no info.

I have moved(maybe a shortcut)all the files on the modem to the desktop.

When I try to use the linux install exe. I just get no permissions.

I am gutted now that I have been using the Deb-box.Compared to this netbook its a Ferrari.

I'm using bash.on the term.

E-macs also opens the code. But I don't know enough about so I just look at the code and understand about

10%of it

I d/ld the Huawei PDF .But that's for a dialup. This is an over the air broadband (wireless modem)

One thing that I did discover. This modem screams along when routed through a self-powered USB hub.Sometimes it flips over from 3G to 4G

Perhaps you could try a livecd of another distro to see if it shows up. If it does, you might be able to figure out the module(driver) it uses.

I suggest to try a Live CD/DVD of Debian Jessie. Squeeze is nearly 5 years old and may not recognize the device.

Yeah, 5 years in the tech world is a looong time; especially for Linux.

I have Antix and Trisquel. Maybe a couple more . I can access all the files on the 3272. There is a lot on there.

So it works on LInux, just not the old version of debian?

Check which modules they are using and let me know. I will give you a link to the package you need if its available for your version.

Catching up on huge backlog of outside work . Falling asleep over the keys . Not a good condition to be in while rootling in the kernel ...The air and the light are so clean just after sunup. and the quiet is breathtaking....

Really need 23 days good weather.
