You’ll need to install two packages for this one. aview and imagemagick. On Ubuntu, type this: sudo apt-get install aview imagemagick Then you can open any image file, as ASCII art. With this command. asciiview file.jpg ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You’ll need this packages for this one. sudo apt-get install figlet Then you can make ASCII banners. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Make a ASCII cow tell fortunes! To install: sudo apt-get install fortune To install the offensive fortunes: sudo apt-get install fortunes-off sudo apt-get install cowsay Then run this piping the two programs together. fortune | cowsay ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Animate a steam locomotive going across your screen if you type ls at the terminal. To install: sudo apt-get install sl ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Watch a ASCII version of Star Wars by typing this in a terminal. telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope you enjoy . I think Asciiquarium is now included in one of the default screensaver packages (kscreensaver?).
