I have Comcast as my ISP. I have my own Cable Modem a Motorola Surfboard Docsis III, and a Net gear dual band Wireless router 3700 N600. I also have a spare Cable Modem, a Zoom Docsis III. and a spare router, a Belkin Wireless. I did not want to pay Comcast $10 a month rental. Rental does have its advantages if your modem or router fails they give you another one, but if you own your own Cable Modem or router and something breaks you have to buy or repair yourself. If the modem lasts 6 month you break even after that it is a free ride.
