I read this in an article about the release of AMD's Opteron CPU:

Quote

One customer speaking at the launch, Dan Gregoire, previsualization and effects supervisor at JAK Films Inc. in Nicasio, Calif., said Opteron-powered workstations are being used for development work his company is doing on the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode III movie, due in 2005.
If Opteron was just released today, how could such companies be already using it?

They were given advanced beta computers just so they could get advertising quotes from them.

C'mon now, nobody gets advanced hardware solely for advertising. They need feedback as how CPU performs in real world, that is why is it called Beta testing, not Advert testing :)
