Superdrive flimsy!

I love the looks of new G5's, everything feels and looks so good, solid and unbrakable. It is obvious they spend a lot of time making sure everything is sturdy and gives out impression of luxury.However..When superdrive opened I was, ... what??In my 486 PC several years ago I had very loud CD.Loud in a sense it opens and closes doors loudly. It was horrible and solely reason why I ditched that PC for good (that and pentium came out ;) ).Anyway, when you press key to open CD, plastic thing comes out with loud noise and vibrates for a second or two afterwards. We paid a lot of money for these G5's and I say design is really something but they could have spent just a tad more money or even save some to get deceint superdrives, aka DVD burners. On my PC at home I have LG 4040b DVD burner and man the door open and close without sound almost. Is it loud like this on your G5 Arena? Why do yout hink they screwed up on this thing?I mean that is the only thing worth cussing at, .. that and white mouse/button.I can't leave without several buttons on my mouse so that was the first thing to go, untouched :)

No offense… but aren’t you taking the short sound of the drive door opening, and the tray sliding out, a little to seriously? I mean, it’s a mechanical device; it makes some sort of noise. It’s like cursing a floppy drive for making sounds when it reads/rights.Now, true I’ve heard some supper quiet optical drives (ones where they are completely open and don’t have to force a door open/close), but then again I’ve heard a LOT worse (like they were ready to die).I will admit that the SuperDrive on the G5’s are a bit loader because it has to push the tray out, and the force push the drive door down. But, short of removing the door the slides up and down, we have to live with it. This is the first time I’ve heard of a person complaining about the sound the SuperDrive makes… I’ve heard complaints about everything else: fan noise, clicks, pops, to power supply hiss…Another note. The drives themselves come from different manufactures. I’m not completely certain if all the G5’s SuperDrives come from the same manufacturer but mine is a Pioneer (DCR-106D).

I bet that doesn’t have to push open a door of some sort. If it does, does it push it up and down or just out?
Why do you think they screwed up on this thing?
I don’t think they messed up. I think they designed a stellar tower, with a remarkable internal layout. And I fully agree about Apple and single button mice. I’ve used my Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo from day one.
