Malware targets home networks

Malware researchers at Trend Micro have analyzed a malware that connects to the home routers and scan the home network then send the gathered information to C&C before deleting it self .

So make sure you log into 192.168.1.1 and change the password to something like from here.

And check the source of flash updates too. o:)

Such type of malware infection can be avoided using a very basic security techniques such as downloading updated and software from a trusted sources only and changing the default password of your equipment’s.

If I saw any popup telling me I needed to update something, I'd start running all my security tools and online scans too.

 

Rather than target the router directly using a known software vulnerability to breach the admin system as have other attacks, Vicepass.a poses as a bogus Flash Player update to launch itself on the user’s PC.
