I'm still waiting for mine to arrive? Did you have to specify k/ubuntu and ed/ubuntu when ordering because I didn't see those options when I did mine. I know they are shipping now with them.

Yes I did get those neat stickers, twelve of them so four machines will have to wear the Xandros and Suse stickers. I did have to sign up for the different versions separately too.Too much threatening weather around yesterday so as soon as I've finished the mail and work I'll start installing today.

Good luck ;) and keep us posted.
Related question does buying the disks help support the Ubuntu developmenteffort or does the cost just pay for the disks and packaging.I have a great broadband connection so I don't need to orderthe disks. If buying the disks helps support the developmenteffort I just may order them anyway. Give a little back fora great distro.

If you ask nicely they send multiple copies. I have 100 sitting here to take to conference next week! At no cost to me!

Good luck at the conference! Break a leg, er, hard drive, whatever!I downloaded my Kubuntu. It is a great distro. Unfortunately, that didn't get me any stickers. I want the stickers!!! :( By the way. I know some people were having trouble with printing with 6.06. In today's updates, there were about a half a dozen updates related to CUPS. Not sure if that was related to fixing the printing problem though.Malachite

They ship the CDs for free.
Oops, I thought they charged a small fee. Guess I'll just have to make a donationsomewhere. Kinda like Public Television, I feel the need to support this great project.

OK, Ubuntu is installed but unfortunately I kind of got sidetracked with playing the great mahjongg game that came with it so didn't get around to trying the others yet. I'm impressed with what I've seen of it so far. :(

You can do it... here:http://www.ubuntu.com/donationsHere's what I'd do... am doing:http://www.ubuntu.com/community/participate
The easiest way to give back to the Ubuntu community is by telling others about Ubuntu and become an Ubuntu advocate: Join or start a Local Community Team and get involved in Ubuntu advocacy, activities, talks, help install Ubuntu on new users' computers by organizing or attending install parties and provide friendly support in your local community and language. Give a talk at your local Linux User Group or other technical group on Ubuntu! A sample of templates, talks and notes given by others in several languages are available on the wiki. Order CDs from Shipit and distribute them to people as part of larger groups or on your own. Drop them off at LUGs, Internet Cafes or anywhere that people use computers. Share the love! But don't fire and forget, help people to make the most of the Free Software world and to become part of the revolution. In general, you should show your friends the power of Free Software, spread the word and raise general awareness around Ubuntu!
(Replace Ubuntu with a distro you like... giving CDs to your local library is a good idea...) ;)

Just ordered mine last week - 5xKubuntu-i386 and 1each of the 3 archs of Ubuntu (i386, mac, and 64bit). Hope they've got Kubuntu stickers too.Personally, if I was in funds, I would donate to Debian who originally made all this possible. IMHO they still do it as well or better than most. I've heard Ubuntu have a wealthy philanthropist who makes all the free CD mailouts possible. Hear, Hear, well done old chap! ;)

I am still trying to figure out what the stickers are all about ;) .... the founder of ubuntu is Mark Shuttleworth the same guy that paid US$ 20 million in 2002 for a return ticket to space... but i am sure that he made most of his money when Shuttleworth founded Thawte in 1995, which specialised in digital certificates and Internet security and then sold it to VeriSign in December 1999, earning 3,5-billion R (about 560 million €/US$ at the time).more info on Mark shuttleworth

I only ordered 1 CD and got 4 stickers but that might be due to the fact that I ordered 10 CDs last summer - to give away to folks wanting to learning what linux was all about.hmmm, mahjongg...looks like I'll have to quickly install this so I can play! ;) steel, I assume the stickers are for pasting on the front of the computer so you can let the world know that linux is inside!!!!

Ugh, I guess I will still be a SUSE user after this. The live CD looked promising, especially since it connected to the Open wireless LAN at work. After doing the hard drive install, the wireless doesn't connect to the AP. The inferface is up and it can see the gateway but is not getting an IP address. Off to do some Googling. :o

I take back what I said about the wireless; it does work, but the icon that shows the connection status is not showing up in the Panel. That's what confused me. I decided to try and surf out using Firefox and lo an behold I was connected to the wireless network. Anyhoot, I'm still a SUSE user.

Right-click the Panel, choose "Add to Panel"... enjoy!

Thanks. Actually, I figured out what the issue was. The Network activity indicator only appears when the wireless interface is brought into focus. It was showing the loopback, lo, for some reason, so when I changed it eth1 (my wifi interface), the wireless power guage appeared. Why it doesn't automatically appear when I'm connected wirelessly I don't know as it shows up wnen you boot into the live CD.On another note, has anyone used Automatix? I followed the instructions but it seems to be missing the packages when I try to install it.

That sure sounds like the installation defeats the purpose of the package. Let us know if you achieve success.

Well, I was following those instructions. I moved to a lab with an Internet connection out the door. Ran apt-get update after adding beerorkid's repository. apt-get update would take about 5 minutes and then quit after about 26% complaining that some packages were missing. Anyway, I'm going to try it tonight in VMware now that I'm home.
