V.T. Eric Layton
Electric motorcycles? What's the world coming to? Do they have a tape recording of cool engine sounds as the bike is accelerating? Pffffft! Give me my gas-guzzling, turtle-chasing Harley any day... onederer
This bike has extreme high torque from the electric motor. No gas powered vehicle can beat it. Time is lost with a gas engine for revving up to speed and for shifting. Who needs the sound of an engine?? This bike can do it silently and with a fast streak. Frank Golden
*sigh* I must be old fashioned. My world is disappearing more every day. Two bikes just about as practical as an electric MCBike powered by 24 chainsaw engines 427 cubic inch Dodge Hemi powered bike (V-8). I have actually seen this monster at Lakeshore Shell gas station on Red Arrow Highway in Stevensville, Michigan where I used to live. It was built by Steve Wright of St. Joseph, Michigan (about 5 miles north of Stevensville). He was gassing up the beast and had drawn quite a crowd. Video is at a car show nearby.http://videos.streetfire.net/video/HEMI-motorcycle_54127.htmBonus, a pic of a 7 cylinder radial aircraft engine powered bike built by Jesse James.http://www.fasterandfaster.net/2006/09/jes...800cc-aero.html Edited November 10, 2009 by Frank Golden
V.T. Eric Layton
They make those, Temmu. They're called Boss Hoss... powered by Chevy 350CI V8 engines. My biker chums and I used to call this small "parts" compensation. The smaller a man's "parts", the bigger the motorcycle he needs to brandish. http://www.bosshoss.com/products.asp
sunrat
Awesome stuff. I think you'd need asbestos gaiters to prevent ankle burns on that 427 though!
V.T. Eric Layton
I've seen many Boss Hoss bikes up close. They're ridiculous, in my opinion. They're for men with big egos, big wallets, and phallic envy.
onederer
@onderer - you're kidding - the electric bike out-accelerates a good crotch rocket? if so, i'm duly impressed!@eric - o. my. @frank golden - nice bikes.I saw it on TV. This electric bike was drag racing those hot big mill cars, and the bike left them in the dust. An electric motor has an on-demand immediate high tork. No time wasted on combustion delays, and shifting transmissions. It's like mixing apples and oranges. One cannot compare a gas engine with an electric engine. They both have different characteristics. The bike's only setback is the limited electric charge that the batteries can hold. It definitely was not designed to be a street bike.
