Ozidave
I borrowed this under the GNL rules as the person before me did. And I've left it intact in appreciation of their efforts. I think it should work for any CD boot software, not just Linux. And the URL's are still live and active... So get it while you can. SOLUTION for CD BOOT to Grub ProblemSubmitted by edwin on Sun, 10/17/2004 - 01:20. Install MEPISSOLUTION for CD BOOT to Grub ProblemI would like to share a simple method to get around the persistant problem of winding up at a grub prompt or getting a grub error while booting Mepis and some other distros from the CD. I have had this problem since SimplyMEPIS rc5 and have experienced this problem with Kanotix_08 and a few other distros. Others users have reported similar problems on various computers in this Forum. I have used this method to boot to SimplyMEPIS_03 and to Kanotix_08, neither of which were possible booting directly to their respective CDs on hp pavilion ze1250 laptop. This solution was recommended by kt and Kano in the Kanotix forum and much appreciation to them for this suggestion. The method is as follows:1) Boot to a Smart_Boot_Manager_36 CD (burned from the iso referenced below)2) In the Menu "down arrow" to CD-ROM without hitting the ENTER key3) Replace the CD with SimplyMEPIS_03, Kanotix_08 or whatever CD you wish to boot4) Let it spin up and then hit the ENTER key5) the CD should hopefully have booted properlySmart_Boot_Manager_36.iso is available at:http://ww3.cad.de/foren/ubb/uploads/kt/Sma..._Manager_36.zipThe links pertaining to this problem in the Kanotix Forum are:http://kanotix.mipooh.net/viewtopic.php?t=3175http://kanotix.mipooh.net/viewtopic.php?t=3138Best of Luck,Edwin
