raymac46
Thinking about getting a webcam to hook up to my desktop unit. Right now I'm using Windows 7 on it but I'd like something I could use with Linux on my other desktop just as easily. Any of you have a suggestion? I was looking at the Logitech C615 as a possibility. The top of the line C920 is currently on sale but I've read its compression isn't that hot and that it's relatively incompatible with Linux. securitybreach
Logitechs are generally compatible with linux. The C920 is compatible with Linux: http://www.linux-hardware-guide.com/2012-11-18-logitech-c920-usb-hd-pro-webcam http://www.oz9aec.net/index.php/gstreamer/473-using-the-logitech-c920-webcam-with-gstreamer
raymac46
Thanks Josh. Looking at a Logitech C525. I don't need stereo mics and H.264 codec since all I want to do is Skype with the grandkids and maybe attend the odd video meeting. It makes more sense to do that on a powerful desktop with a larger screen though.
Guest LilBambi
I have found that it is great to do Skype on my phone but I have a webcam (that I keep unplugged unless I am using it) on my desktop too. Tablets make great Skype units.
