PCLinuxOS repositories

Hi all!I would like to try installing Gnome on my PCLinuxOS but it doesn't want to work. The only repository I had was nluug so I went into /etc/apt/sources.list and unticked all the others and I still cannot make the package manager work. Here is the list;

# Package repository URL's# Signed repositories have a [<key>] where <key> is the name of the key# as it appears in vendors.list. If you remove it, no digital signature check# will be made. rpm http://spout.ussg.indiana.edu/linux/pclinuxos/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://ftp.belnet.be/pub/mirror/pclinuxonline.com/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://ftp.ch.debian.org/mirror/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm http://ftp.sh.cvut.cz/MIRRORS/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm http://ftp.nl.freebsd.org/os/Linux/distr/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://ftp.pbone.net/pub/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://rm.mirror.garr.it/mirrors/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm http://mirrors.lastdot.org:1280/pclos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://ftp.eth0-up.com/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm http://pclosusers.com/pclosusers/pclosfiles/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm http://ftp.leg.uct.ac.za/pub/linux/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm http://mirror.pacific.net.au/pub1/linux/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://klid.dk/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome rpm ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/distr/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/ pclinuxos/2007 main extra nonfree kde gnome

and what I get when I try to do anything;

rejean@localhost ~]$ suPassword:[root@localhost rejean]# apt-get upgradeE: Vendor block FingerPrint is invalidE: Vendor block Name is invalidE: The list of sources could not be read.[root@localhost rejean]# kwrite /etc/apt/sources.listkbuildsycoca running...[root@localhost rejean]# apt-get updateE: Vendor block FingerPrint is invalidE: Vendor block Name is invalid[root@localhost rejean]# ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 7959, errno = 11updatedb[root@localhost rejean]# updatedb[root@localhost rejean]# apt-get install gnomeE: Vendor block FingerPrint is invalidE: Vendor block Name is invalidE: The list of sources could not be read.

Any clues?

I'm not sure, but I don't think 2007 is supported and no repos that supported PCLinuxOS 2007 are available. I could be wrong but I recall having to upgrade to the latest pclinuxos 2010.

Sorry about that r'ejean my bad, was reading but not connecting....still think with the exception of that one repo most supporting 2009 repos have closed down and there doesn't seem to be gnome packages in either the gnome files for rpms or srpms(at least as far as I can tell)

Frank Golden
I do have 2009 PCLinuxOS installed. I just don't know how to update the sources.list. Anyone knows?
PCLinuxOS 2009 isn't supported either.They dropped support in the last few months before release of the 2010 versions.There is a PCLinuxOS 2010 Gnome edition available but of course that requires a complete clean install.http://linuxgator.org/download/download.htmlGive it a try works great.

That's what I did Frank and I am starting to see a trend now; another Gnome that allows me to get sound from the internet without doing any tweaking. I had forgotten that the old PCLinuxOS 2009 was in charge of the MBR and I put the bootloader on its root partition but all it saw was Windows so I either do a bunch of mkdir /mnt/whatever distro then mount them and copy their entries one by one or else have another distro take charge of the MBR and just add the PCLinux entry into it but for now I can use PCLinuxOS for a while since I didn't format the /home partition and I have all ( most ) my bookmarks.The good thing about using a portal ( Yahoo in my case or Google ) with an online email is that I can switch from a distro ( or even a computer for that matter ) and be back in business in a minute or so.Ok! Got to go and water the gardens now.
