Pale Moon Version 27.2 Released with Security Updates

Corrine

Recommended Posts

Pale Moon has been updated to Version 27.2. This is a major version update which focuses on back-end improvements and security. Included in the updates are DiD* patches.

To get the update now, select "Help" from the Pale Moon menu at the upper left of the browser window. Select About Pale Moon > Check for Updates.

*DiD stands for "Defense-in-Depth" and is a fix that does not apply to an actively exploitable vulnerability in Pale Moon but prevents future vulnerabilities caused by the same code when surrounding code changes, exposing the problem.

Since my system has developed some sort of phobia to Chrome, Chromium, and Opera (chromium base), I've had to go back to good ol' Firefox a couple months back. I'm actually liking it. I have it all set up and customized to look pretty much the same as my chromium did. It's fast, too, and doesn't hog RAM as much as older versions did. It also renders fonts on webpages 1000% better than Chromium-based browsers.

That all being said, I now have a need for a backup browser. Sometimes, it's handy to have another browser to view webpages you're creating or for other odds and ends uses. I have Seamonkey, of course, but still wanted another. I installed Pale Moon today and added a minimal amount of extensions (uBlock, Click&Clean, https Everywhere). I customized it a bit to look like FF, also.

It's pretty spiffy. I like it. :)

Here's a screenie displaying my custom start-up page that I use on all my browsers...

I'll be paying attention to these Pale Moon update notices now, Corrine. Keep 'em coming, and thanks!

I have FF installed too but definitely prefer Pale Moon and the fact that changes are made where needed to improve the browser and not changes for the sake of change.

Glad you mentioned "Click&Clean", Eric. I hadn't heard about that add-on before. It looks like a good one. Click&Clean :: Add-ons for Firefox

Yes, been using Click&Clean for a couple years now. It's simple and efficient. I like that combination.

I'm new to uBlock, though. I installed it because it was an "official" addon for Pale Moon. Adblock+, which I use in FF, is usable in Pale Moon but requires some dancing and hopping work-a-rounds to get it installed.

Thanks Eric. I used Better Privacy for my LSO cookies but it isn't compatible with the latest version of Palemoon. Click and Clean looks like it will take care of that.
