Microsoft is pushing items from their Microsoft Store in light of the needs of those who need to get a new computer because of XP going away.

They are offering $100 off any computer in their store >= $599.

All are Windows 8.1. And you must be going from XP to qualify for the deal.

One of my clients bought one. She got the Lenovo All in One. that had a $50 off already and then got the $100 off. Which basically covered the tax. Oh, and she got it with free shipping.

Nice for folks needing to actually buy another computer if you can find something you like.

Well so much for that. I don't even have an XP machine around any more. The closest physical store is 250 miles away.

God only knows where the closest store is in Virginia. Oh wait...

Best case, off peak time, is 2 h 36 min from here.

Not gonna happen...

But one of my clients bought an all in one from Lenovo on their website and they are shipping it to her for free. She got her $100 discount, plus the price was already $50 off retail pricing.

microsoft has brick-and-mortar stores?

Yeah, I was in one Friday morning (Bring your iPad and we'll give you Office 365 for a year free deal). It was really odd. They took the Apple store model and ran with it. Far less busy, though. :D I went to the Apple Store and touched a new Mac Pro (trashcan) computer and begged for forgiveness. LOL

We have two Apple Stores 'relatively close' ... they are each at least ~ hour away, each way.

Closest one is 1 hr 14 min away in Norfolk.

I have been to the one in Richmond and that is 1 hr 30 min away. Happened to be in the area.

Yeah, the Microsoft store is a bit weird.... like I said, they too the AppleStore model and ran with it.

The one thing that struck me is that the store was not as bright as the Apple store... like Corporate did not want to pay for any more electricity.
