jeffw_00
Hi - I'm upgrading some low-use Win7 PCs (with the intent of rolling them back) to get my Win10 license. I simply downloaded the upgrade assistant and ran it. These are all low-trouble, recent-hardware machines (2 desktop, 1 laptop), On 2 of 3 machines. It get to this point Getting Your Upgrade Ready Installing Windows 10, Please Wait Percent Complete 99% And although it continues to use significant CPU. It gets stuck here (stuck = 1 hour with no change). It's one desktop and one laptop affected. The only commonality is that they're 32b and the one that worked ok was 64b. I can find very little on the web about this. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks! /j Edited May 30, 2016 by jeffw_00
raymac46
Check the Reserved Partition on your hard disk. Sometimes with Win 7 machines it is only 100 MB. Windows 10 requires 350 MB at least. You can use Minitool Partition Wizard to make the Reserved Partition a bit bigger. Burn it as a DVD or USB Flashdrive so you can run it faster. https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/partition-magic-for-windows7.html

goretsky
Hello, Sometimes anti-malware software can prevent the Windows 10 upgrade from proceeding. To get around this: Download latest version of licensed anti-malware software Uninstall current version of anti-malware software. Perform Windows 10 upgrade. Re-install anti-malware software. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

Guest LilBambi
There are several reasons why Windows 10 might not work. Extradinary Patience on the part of the user first and foremost it seems to me. But other reasons include anti malware program and hardware drivers that need updating and other issues as they occur for individual users. Always interesting to see what things can cause issues with operating system upgrades.
