Corrine
From AV-Comparatives Linux-Reviews: Linux operating systems are only used on a very small fraction of desktop/laptop computers – under 2% in April 2015, according to Net Market share – but Linux systems can be bought off the shelf from Dell, and are popular with enthusiasts. Linux is also widely used as a server OS. Although it is considered a more secure platform than Windows, malware for Linux does exist, and is aimed particularly at servers. Additionally, there is the risk of Windows malware passing through Linux systems undetected. For these reasons, we have reviewed the available Linux antivirus products, a number of which are free. The PDF is available from the above link.
securitybreach
Most of the antivirus products for Linux for are mail servers that host mail for window's clients. Basically they exist to protect window's machines. Nice article BTW
securitybreach
Granted Linux only holds 2% of the desktop market share but Linux runs 97% of the Top 500 supercomputers and Linux owns the server market share .
goretsky
Hello, Actually, this mostly covered desktop or workstation versions of Linux-based anti-malware programs, although there were a few server versions thrown in. Guest LilBambi
Yes, I use Linux AV but it's usually to protect my Windows computers and Windows friend's computers. However, I would love to have a Linux version of Malwarebytes.org's Anti-Exploit! This is something I would love to see on Macs too.
goretsky
Hello, Anti-malware software is sometimes less like a magic force-field that protects your computer and more like automobile insurance. You don't buy it because you're a bad driver, you buy it because there are a lot of other idiots on the road with you.
