gfbrown
Like Big Jeff who posted on March 21, I would like to use some of the web space available to me from my ISP for storage of some images. I will need much more plain, simple instruction than was available in the Big Jeff thread. I have installed the ftp client, smartftp, but know nothing about where we go from here. Earthlink is my ISP and I do have image files in MY PICTURES in Win WP. Am looking for a source of detailed instruction to set up a site. Guest ThunderRiver
My first suggestion is that you should go directly to your ISP member page, and see if there is a place called FAQ or Help. I am not an EarthLink user, so I don't really know what the ftp server is that you need to connect to.Basically, you need to find out your ISP ftp serverRemember your user name and passwordand also find out the public address is after you upload the pics. Procedures vary from ISP to ISP but the list of things I Just mentioned are required for all ISP ftp server.
Stryder
I used to be a Mindspring/Earthlink member. When I was with them they had really good documentation in their member support pages. They also used to have a tech chat thing where you could have a instant message session with tech support. If those options are still available, you should have no problems. If they are not, let me know and I will do whatever I can.
SonicDragon
Yea, i haven't used EarthLink either, but try searching the help files for something like FTP, or how to upload files. Once you have uploaded the images, you need to find out what your URL, or web adress is. Example, on my site the adress for images is http://sonicdragon.fateback.com/images/the...heimagename.gif.Hope This Helps
gfbrown
Thanks for the help. After much floundering around trying to figure out how this works, I was able to complete the procedure.
Arena2045
Hey gfbrown,I know it’s off subject but I noticed your signature….If your wondering why your image isn't appearing in your signature, its because HTML isn't enabled.Instead of <img src="http://home.earthlink.net/~geofbrown/Sig20.jpg"> you should use [img=http://home.earthlink.net/~geofbrown/Sig20.jpg[/img] .I hope that helps.
