nlinecomputers
As of March 24, 2004 we have decided to discontinue the development project that we all know as AIDA32. Development of AIDA32 has been started years ago, and the project went first public in April 2001. AIDA32 has become the de facto standard for both home and corporate system diagnosis and network audit, winning several awards including "Freeware Product of the Year" by Support Alert newsletter in December 2002.Aida32.hu has well served this project almost without any issues, providing access to over half a million of users in 150 countries worldwide. For the exceptional quality of service, we'd like to send our special thanks to Hunet Kft, our internet service provider and software supplier. To help you find products to relieve AIDA32, hereby we publish our favorites:1. Freeware system diagnostics, hardware monitoring, benchmarks * Lavalys EVEREST Home Edition: http://www.lavalys.com * Motherboard Monitor by Alex van Kaam: http://mbm.livewiredev.com * Panopsys CPU-Z: http://www.cpuid.com * ScienceMark 2: http://www.sciencemark.org2. Commercial system diagnostics, network audit, benchmarks * Futuremark PCMark04: http://www.futuremark.com * Lavalys EVEREST Professional: http://www.lavalys.com * REALiX HWiNFO & HWiNFO32: http://www.hwinfo.com * SiSoftware Sandra 2004: http://www.sisoftware.net http://www.aida32.hu/aida32.phpThis was one of the best audit programs around and the guy is just packing it in. No open source, no going commerical(he'd make a killing), no selling it(ditto). It just vanishes into the either. This is total crap. jodef
It was or is a great piece of software but I have seen this happen before especially with these mainly one man type of operations. How unfortunate.
Guitar Man
At least for now, we know it won't be turned into shareware, like jv16 Powertools did at the beginning of the year ! My other favorite freeware is Sandra. This may be a bit 'off topic', but while we're on the subject; I'm surprised Spyboy S&D is still free. This is a great program, getting rave reviews worldwide, and it's a 'one man show' as well. AdAware is free, but they have a paid version too. They also seem to update their signature files far more frequently than Spybot.
Guest LilBambi
Thanks striker for the link. It appears that Lavalys (a link on AIDA32's page) has a home version available as freeware of their EVEREST product. Amazingly close to Aida32 too. Does that mean something? It seems Aida's "Fiery" developer isn't saying or isn't allowed to say by NDA. Or maybe it is an unbelievable coincidence. :blink:Regardless, Aida32 has been a wonderful tool. Nothing is forever. And I am thankful to him for providing Aida32 for everyone (home user, business or enterprise), free of charge for a very long time. Folks do not have to continue development of anything. I am pleased he did so for so long.I say: "Good luck to you Fiery and thank you for all the years that you faithfully made this wonderful software available and provided updates as new hardware came on the scene!" nlinecomputers
t seems Aida's "Fiery" developer isn't saying or isn't allowed to say by NDA. Or maybe it is an unbelievable coincidence.Surely it is just a coincidence. I had not checked out that link assuming that it would be for charge product. It looks to be the full AIDA program to me. Nice to see that the author was able to market it. I hope he got a nice hunk of change for it.
ibe98765
Was the Aida enterprise edition always freeware also? It is now.
nlinecomputers
Yes. No. Now it about $30 seat for small operations about $15 for large ones.
