zlim
It's an optional update. Info here: http://support.micro...n-us/kb/3035583 I haven't checked but since I rarely install optional updates, it is probably added to the list. Yup, I just opened up the optional list and it is one of 61 optional updates on my desktop computer. Edited April 4, 2015 by zlim
crp
61?!? sheesh, you should probably make an inventory of them. some might actually help. (hope you are not skipping any relating to .Net Frameworks)
zlim
I choose not to update computers that did not come with .NET 4 to not install unless something complains. I keep .NET 3, which came with Win 7 updated. 3035583 is to send you possible popups about upgrading to Win 10 when it is available. Since two of our four Win 7 computers were updated from XP to 7, I will not attempt to update them to 10. The other two, I probably will but I don't need MS urging me to do so. I will on my time frame, not Microsoft's. In 2020, I'll replace at least one of the Win 7 desktops with a new Win 10 computer.
ebrke
Optional updates usually seem to be just that--optional. I've never yet had a problem by taking MS at their word: I install Important and Critical updates and usually give everything else a pass. abarbarian
Not quite on topic, Microsoft are offering Skype as an optional update for Windows 7.
